Description
The SS Rye, right, docked at the Toulouse street wharf, returned to the Port of New Orleans this week, operating for the American Bulk Carriers of New York City, to load grain. The vessel, formerly the Alcoa Corsair, was sold at auction after a collision in the Mississippi River in October, 1960, in which ten persons died. The damaged ship is shown below, following the tragic accident near Buras.
