1974 Press Photo YF17, A Double-Tailed Fighter Jet, Unveiled By Northrop Corp.

Double-tailed fighter jet - Spectators view the YF17, a lightweight, low-cost jet fighter plane the Air Force may buy in the future. It was unveiled yesterday at the Northrop Corp. plant in Hawthorne, Calif. Designed to be highly maneuverable and good in dogfights, the craft has short swept wings and double tail and its speed will be about 1500 mph.
