Newspapering is work I know a little something about, so when the offer came to interview actor Robert Walden, who plays investigative reporter Joe Rossi on the television show Lou Grant," I said yes, a thousand times yes. Walden is so immersed in the hit CBS series that he imagines, insists really, that he is a good journalist who just happens to be a good actor. The irony of my interview with him E” and it is riddled with ironies E” is that Walden doesnE™t really know who he is. Journalist? Actor? Actor acting as a journalist? To talk to him is to see a man in limbo, a man who sashays among fractured interests.
