1979 Press Photo Mezzo soprano Christa Ludwig at Theater of Performing Arts

German mezzo soprano Christa Ludwig, right, star of the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna Opera, the Parish Opera and nearly all of the other great opera companies, will present a recital at 8:30 pm Thursday at the Theater of the Performing Arts. Miss Ludwig, who had made dozens of recordings of opera, oratorio, songs and other music, is appearing here under the sponsorship of the New Orleans Opera Guild. She will be singing music by Brahms, Schubert, Wagner, Bizet and Gluck.
