1966 Press Photo 1,739-ton Cypriot passenger ship Kypros burns in Haifa, Israel

The 1,739-ton Cypriot passenger ship Kypros burns fiercely today in port at Haifa, Israel, as members of the crew abandon the blazing vessel. The Kypros arrived today from Italy carrying 65 passengers, all of whom escaped unharmed. Four automobiles and 38 sacks of mail were destroyed. After firemen fought the blaze for four hours at the pier the ship was towed from the harbor and run aground. Prospects of saving the vessel are poor, experts said.
