1960 Press Photo John Hunter featured in the book "The Reluctant Surgeon"

John Hunter, the unlettered Scotsman who brought medicine out of the Dark Ages and became known as the founder of scientific surgery, is the subject of a new book, "The Reluctant Surgeon" by John Kobler (above). Doubleday is the publisher. Mr. Kobler, who lives in Wilton, Connecticut, is an editor of the Saturday Evening Post and the author of many articles on science and medicine.
