"The return of the Native" features several memorable Hardy characters, including the beautiful, mysterious Eustacia Vye (Catherine Zeta Jones) and rich, sensitive Clym Yeobright (Ray Stevenson). Eustacia feels trapped in the parochial English village where she lives; to her, Clym represents a means of escape. Eventually the star-crossed lovers marry, but their happiness is short-lived when tragic event alters their lives and sets in motion a chain of events that brings the story of the native's return to its dramatic conclusion. This sumptuous production was filmed on location in Exmoor, England.
