Samuel Yorty, surprise winner in yesterday's election to pick a mayor for Los Angeles, tells a news conference today he's going to try and fire the police commission, which opposed him, and that he's planning an administration heavy with intellectuals. Torty defeated incumbent Mayor Morris Poulson in what was regarded as an upset, 273,701 votes to 257,073.
