Wondering what might have caused the large section (top) of the rear wall of the main United States Post Office, 701 Loyola, to fall Thursday, postal workers and Post Office officials survey the fallen bricks. None of the postal workers on the scene when the section of white brick in the multi-million dollar building fell about 3 p.m. could guess at the cause. The bricks, most of which were caught on the ledge jutting from the rear of the building, landed on a mail delivery truck. No injuries were reported. Postmaster Paul V. Burke, one of the officials surveying the scene, said no cause for the incident was immediately known.

Photo is dated 1969.

Photo measures 8 x 10.25 inches.
