1960 Press Photo Long line of voters at Precinct of the Eight Ward of Jefferson

Several Hundred Voters stand in line to reach the polling booth in the 29th Precinct of the Eight Ward of Jefferson, which includes parts of Green Acres, Country Club Homes and Airline Park. The line extends to the far corner and around the corner for a quarter block more. Voters showed up at 5 a.m. to wait an hour for the poll opening. More than 400 out of the registration of more than 1500 had voted by 11:30 a.m.
