1974 Press Photo Operation Clean Sweep launched at Tchoupitoulas & Lafayette St.

Gutters Clogged with litter and weeds at Tchoupitoulas and Lafayette Streets demonstrate a situation members of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce hope to remedy. The idea, called Operation Clean Sweep, is to convince business and citizens to- among other things- "Clean up" the gutters in front of their doors, place their trash out for collection at proper times and keep their sidewalks and curbs clean and in good repair, all of which is required by law.
