Critical areas in the levee system are reinforced Monday as emergency sandbagging operations were begun by the Orleans Levee Board. Supervising the work at the foot of N. Robertson at the Industrial Canal are Milton E. Dupuy (in white suit at left), levee board president, and John P. McNamara, assistant chief engineer. The action was taken in preparation for the approaching height of the hurricane season. The canal area is only one of several to be bagged.

Photo is dated 1967.
