1967 Press Photo Governor McKeithen, Louisiana, signs up for "Freedom Shares"

Governor John J. McKeithen became the first state employee to sign up for the Treasury Department's new "Freedom Shares" for the combined purchase of US Savings Bonds and Freedom Shares through the statewide employee Payroll Savings Plan. The Governor has designated the month of July for state employees to sign up for the program. From left, are C.C.
