1968 Press Photo Governor John J. McKeithen receives C. Alvin Bertel Award

Accepting the first annual C. Alvin Bertel Award Wednesday for his efforts to "Keep New Orleans Competitive" is Governor John J. McKeithen. The Award was given by the New Orleans Traffic and Transportation Bureau at a luncheon at the Roosevelt Hotel. From left are A. Alvin Bertel Junior, Mrs. Bertel Senior, Governor McKeithen and Ralph Rugan Junior, outgoing president of the NOTTC, who made the presentation. The late Mr. Bertel was known as "Elder Statesman of the Port of New Orleans" the award commemorates him.
