1977 Press Photo 'Open classroom' environment at McDonogh 15, New Orleans

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
School Children do lessons in arithmetic, reading and writing concurrently in the same room, each at his own pace in the 'open classroom' environment at McDonogh 15, which became the first such school in New Orleans' public school system seven year ago. Mention "open classroom" schools to some parents and you might get one of these reactions: -"Are those the kind without any wall?" - "Yeah...those are the ones with no discipline." - "Those are the ones with no admission requirements, right?" Wrong.

Photo is dated 1977.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
