1963 Press Photo New Audubon Park Zoo Hippopotamus Shy-Anne - noo30759

Opening wide for a mouthful of hay is Shy-Anne, six-year-old female hippopotamus which was brought here from Colorado Springs, Colorado, as a mate for Gumbo, which has been at Audubon Park Zoo for many years. Shy-Anne has been here only a week and the two hippos haven't got well acquainted yet, according to Park Superintendent George Douglass.
