According to Tauny Marie Hanes - who's running as Miss Louisiana in the Miss USA pageant Saturday, 9 pm, channel 4 - success is that much closer for a woman crowned. "It's like a preface to a book," she said in a phone call from Charleston, where the contest is being conducted. "The pageant offers a girl something to look forward to in life; it's the basis to start an education or a career, for the girl who has beauty of face, beauty of figure, beauty of personality."
