Lieutenant Colonel Marshall E. George. Colonel George Gets Post in Marines. Lieutenant Colonel Marshall Eugene George will succeed Lieutenant Colonel Howard J. Johnston as inspector-instructor of the Third Battalion, 24th Marines on July 10. Lieutenant Colonel George is a native of Texas. He saw service on Guadalcanal and in New Zealand in 1942-43, then entered the Navy V-12 program.
