Firemen check exterior walls and rubble following an explosion Wednesday morning in a building at 805-7-9 Amelia in which the owner, Tuerling J. Dupre, 62, 4941 Argonne Boulevard, Metairie, was severely burned when gasoline he was using to clean a floor ignited. Fire officials said the building was a total loss. Metairie Man Badly Burned - $26,000 Apartment House Seems Total Loss - A Metairie man was in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Touro Infirmary Wednesday night after he suffered first, second and third degree burns over 20 percent of his body during an explosion at an apartment house he owns. Tuerling J. Dupre, 62, 4941 Argonne Boulevard, was injured when gasoline he was using to take up old floor tile glue in an apartment at 809 Amelia before noon Wednesday was apparently ignited by a cigarette his son was smoking.
