Description
Chow Time in the Far North - Cape Christian, Baffin Island: Chief Gunner's mate Frederick C. Langille, of Everett, Massachusetts, helps this young Eskimo master the use of the knife and fork while eating. The Eskimo was a member of a group of Baffin Islanders who were invited aboard the U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker Eastwind, during its special hydrographic mission to the area. After a hot meal of "civilized" food, the natives were shown a movie. Even though they could not understand what was going on on the screen, they enjoyed the film's sound and action.

Photo is dated 1952.

Photo measures 7.25 x 8.25 inches.
