The cancer-stricken Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, whose resignation was announced today, still had hopes of being able to carry on at the helm of US foreign affairs when he left Washington's Walter Reed hospital a month ago for an automobile outing. The 71-year-old diplomat is back in the hospital today for treatment of a neck ailment, believed to be an outcropping of the spreading cancer.
