Ringhaver; National Shrimp Congress directors --- Shrimp Import Threat To U.S. Industry Aired -- Directors of the National Shrimp Congress said here today that foreign shrimp imports are up 70 per cent this year, threatening a serious "calamity" in the industry if controls are not improved. The directors met in open session with leading shrimp industry representatives from the east coast and Gulf states in the Jung hotel to air progress pending shrimp legislation. A shrimp bill which would place graduated control on foreign imports is now being considered by the ways and means committee of the House.
