Official Views Confession Use -- No Longer Primary Evidence, Nugent Says -- The use of confessions as primary evidence in the prosecution of criminals is a thing of the past, according to Rhode Island Attorney General J. Joseph Nugent. Speaking at he Attorney Generals Conference for District Attorneys at the Roosevelt Hotel Friday, Nugent stated that in view of recent Supreme Court decisions, the use of confessions in the body of evidence can be termed a violation of constitutional rights. --- Chatting at the Attorney General's Conference for District Attorneys at the Roosevelt Hotel Friday are three of the speakers.
