1971 Press Photo Actress Julie Christie in Joy Theater's "McCabe & Mrs. Miller"

A Peace Pipe of sorts is prepared by Julie Christie, who plays an opium-smoking madam in "McCabe and Mrs. Miller," opening Friday at the Joy Theater. Julie Christie plays an opium-smoking bordello operator in "McCabe & Mrs. Miller," the new Warner Bros. picture, directed by Robert Altman. In a mining town of the Northwest in 1902, opium smoking was said not to be uncommon. Miss Christie, who stars with Warren Beatty in the new picture, is shown here with the equipment during a scene for the film.
