American actress Sandra Church. Some drama students joke that their schools offer an advanced course called How to Be Pushy. This is, of course, just a joke. It is outside the academy that the aspiring actor learns the value of sheer gall over dramatic gifts. Theatrical ambition is sometimes a ruthless affair, and not even a refresher course is required in the curriculum. For an actress who has accomplished much in a young career, Sandra Church professes to little drive. Good things have happened to the auburn-haired performer -- a year and a half on Broadway in the title role of "Gypsy," a shorter but still respectable run in "Under the Yum Yum Tree," and a co-starring role with Marlon Brando in "The Ugly American," Miss Church's first motion picture, which opens Friday at the Joy Theater.
