Alexander Mayor W. George Bowdon Jr., announced Monday he would be a candidate for lieutenant governor on the ticket headed by New Orleans Mayor deLesseps S. Morrison. Bowden, 38, has been mayor of Alexandria since 1953 and previously served a four-year term in the state Legislature. He is the son of a former mayor of Alexandria.
