1960 Press Photo Mock-up model of vertical jet developed by Bell Aerosystems

Buffalo, NY: This is a mock-up model of vertical takeoff jet fighter-bomber being developed by Bell Aerosystems Corporation of Buffalo. The planned aircraft, the D188A, would have eight jet engines, take off and land vertically like a helicopter, and fly at twice the speed of sound, Bell said.
