Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
Major General Jacob L. Devers, the air-minded Chief of America's Armored Force, who, since taking command, has flown more than 20,000 miles on official trips to Washington and Aberdeen, Maryland, and on inspecting trips to the seven Armored Divisions and numerous separate tank battalions of his command. On these trips in his C-45 Beechcraft twin-engine cargo ship, General Devers carriers his office with him in a medium-size briefcase. Being essentially a field general, he disposes of paper work quickly in order to give his thought and time to the field forces. Fort Knox, Kentucky
