1961 Press Photo Panelists at the opening session of Plastic Surgery Convention

Panelists at the opening session of the plastic surgery convention included, from left, Doctor John M. Converse, New York; Doctor R.C. Tanzer, Hanover, New Hampshire, and Doctor Bradford Cannon, Boston, Massachusetts. Doctor Tanzer builds the entire framework from sections of rib cartilage and inserts it under the skin as a unit on which to mold skin grafts, usually pulled into place from adjacent areas of the scalp. The difficulty of such work was outlined at the start of the panel by Doctor Clifford Snyder, professor of plastic surgery at the University of Miami, and panel moderator.
