Displaying awards presented by the Freedoms Foundation Monday night at the Norman Meyer Library, Gentilly branch, are (standing left to right) Jacob La Fonda, president of the Gentilly Lions Club, hosts for the event; Paul Houske, of Francis T. Nicholls Senior High School, winner of the principal school award; Chief Justice John A. Fournet, of the Louisiana Supreme Court, who presented the awards; and Mrs. Lucille Baches, of P.A. Capdau Jr. High School, winner of a George Washington honor award. Seated (from left) are Miss Rose Capraro, of Alcee Fortier High School, who received the George Washington award for school program; Miss Darleen Arras, of Fortier, winner of the school newspaper editorial award; and Miss Monica Smith, a student at Capdau. Not present to receive their awards were James J. Coleman, of the Chamber of Commerce of the New Orleans Area; and E.W. Tregre and L.F. McCracklin of Louisiana Power and Light Company.
