Description
A beauty contest winner who wants to be a detective? Seventeen-year-old Cindy Wener, 5901 Lafreniere street in Metairie, fits this unusual description. Cindy's greatest claim to fame was her appearance as candidate-at-large from New Orleans in the Teen-age America Pageant in Dallas this fall. "I watched the Pageant on television last year," Cindy explained, "and then wrote in for an entry blank. I sent it back in, but it wasn't until September that I received a special delivery letter informing me that I was one of 120 semi-finalist. Then I had to take a scholastic test and get recommendations from my principal and teachers. Three weeks later I got a telegram saying, 'Congratulations; you are one of seven candidates-at-large selected from throughout the nation.'"

Photo is dated 1967.

Photo measures 8.25 x 10 inches.
