1958 Press Photo Governors of Alaska & Hawaii celebrate Alaska statehood

Much in common have these two governors, Mike Stepovich (left), governor of Alaska, and William F. Quinn, governor of Hawaii, Governor Quinn arrived at San Francisco en route to Washington and was greeted by Governor Stepovich, who is soon to return home from his triumphant fight for Alaska statehood. Governor Quinn presented Governor Stepovich with leis and a flower-studded star and a 49-star American flag.
