Description
New Orleans will open its doors Monday to a whole new group of immigrants-plant immigrants. Imported plant materials arriving by air will now be able to enter this country through New Orleans--thanks to a new federal plant inspection station opening Monday at Moisant International Airport. Another operation in the treatment of imported plants is this hot air fumigator being inspected by John C. Pritchett, supervisor of the Department of Agriculture station at Moisant International Airport. Other facilities at the new station include a laboratory to examine plants for disease.

Photo is dated 1960.
