Description
New Kimbrough Satsuma fruit is displayed by Luke Provenzano county agent for St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes. It was developed from seedlings grown in 1962 from seeds of an Owari satsuma tree that survived freezes to 12 degrees in 1961 and 1962 at the Plaquemines Parish Experiment Station. It is slightly more cold hardy than Owari and produces about 40 percent more fruit than Owari. Budwood of Kimbrough satsuma is available to interested citrus growers and nurserymen but it will be the fall of 1977 before the fruit in on the market.

Photo is dated 1976.

Photo measures 8 x 10 inches.
