1967 Press Photo Author Harold Robbins Sits Next To Seven Top-Selling Books

In the past 20 years Harold Robbins has written nine novels which have sold 33 million copies, including over two million in hardback editions, and have been translated, a last count, into 19 languages. Rugged, racy and action-packed, these works have catapulted Robbins to the top of the literary heap as the world's No. 1 moneymaker among today's novelists. His renown as a Midas-touch storyteller, which began right off the typewriter with "Never Love a Stranger," has grown to such an extent that before he wrote a single word of his latest epic, "The Adventurers," he had already sold the film rights to producer Joe Levine for $1 million, plus another $2 million in advances against 25 percent of the picture's profits. In addition, Robbins was paid a fat free for doing the movie's screenplay, the first he's ever attempted. His previous novel, "The Carpetbaggers," made a lot of loot - even more than expected, since the movie did such a fantastic business.
