Canal-Filling Job, Sewerage and Water Board, New Orleans. Ditches and piles of earth are only part of the problem at a canal-filling job near Avenue C and the 400 block of Hammond hwy. Worse, say some homeowners, are the damaged carports, and cracked driveways and brick sidings caused by the heavy equipment. Several complainants said the construction company told them its insurance would handle the claims after the heavy equipment leaves. The job is being done for the Sewerage & Water Board. Avenue C (in Orleans Parish) site of construction that has raised complaints of residents in the 400 block of Hammon Hwy. (intersects with Avenue C). Residents claim that the heavy equipment used on the job (filling the canal along Ave C) has done damages to their homes.
