Description
Guards in Library lobby deters would-be book thieves. Despite reports of a national rise in book stealing, head librarians in New Orleans feel that the problem here is relatively small. One library journal reported recently that an inventory in the Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn, New York, showed that in a period of two years the library lost the equivalent of the entire book stock of six of its branches. Volumes numbering around 96,000 and worth about $1 million were either stolen outright or unreturned. New Orleans Public Library
