1969 Press Photo Truck brings trailer into Pass Christian along Highway 90

Above right, a truck brings sorely needed trailer into Pass Christian along Highway 90. "I was so made I had to walk inside the trailer," the tall thin man said. "Those people"-he gestured across the street at the ruins of a house-"they live here, they were born and raised in the town, and they haven't got their trailer yet. And those people"-he gestured again, at another ruined house; this one had a big mobile home parked beside it-"they live in New Orleans and come over on weekends. They don't even vote here!" A sly look crossed his face. "This trailer was more or less hijacked," he said, nodding toward the mobile home parked behind him on his own property. "It was supposed to go to somebody else, but they couldn't get it through to his property, and a good friend of mine who's with the police, he said 'I know a lot you can put it on.'"
