Mahonia is evergreen with holly-like leaves. Plant has spikes of bright yellow flowers. Mahonia is an attractive evergreen shrub used for accent purposes by Mrs. A.J. Blanchard, a former president of Palm Air Garden Club, at the front of her home at 9330 Palmetto. This cold-hardy woody plant, now about four feet tall, has holly-like leaves which are stiff and very prickly on the points. The leaves are medium-green in color except in the fall when a reddish tint is present on part of each leaf.
