This unique 30,000-barrel capacity "over-and-under" crude oil storage structure designed for offshore operations is located about 70 miles off the coast of Vermilion Parish in the Gulf of Mexico. Designed to resist hurricane waves, the structure incorporates two storage sections: a ring-like submerged tank, resting on the bottom at a depth of 131 feet, and a 45-foot diameter, 53-foot high tank above the water. The submerged vessel anchors the entire structure, eliminating the need for piles or other conventional stabilizers.

Photo is dated 1966.

Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
