Oil well being drilled at Kenner The Texas Crude Oil Company has started drilling for oil in Kenner. The exploratory well is located one mile from Lake Pontchartrain and one quarter mile on the New Orleans side of Williams Blvd. This is well within the limits of the City of Kenner. According to Bill Cumberland, land man for Texas, the well is a "wildcat." This means the firm believes oil or gas lies under the ground but that it is not positive.
