One of a dozen idle drilling rigs anchored in Bayou Barataria and adjacent waterways, attests to the fact that the rig shortage in South Louisiana is caused, for the most part, by a need for deeper water units and higher rates so the contractors can start acquiring roughnecks and drillers again. A man-power loss is causing a big pinch in the industry.
