Description
This is sketch of the deep-water drilling rig which will be built for the Zapata Offshore Company. A contract has been signed for its construction and delivery is scheduled in early 1964. The rig will be capable of operating in 250 feet of water. Cost will be approximately $5 million. Zapata Offshore Company signed a contract this week for the building of another offshore drilling rig, capable of operating in 250 feet of water. Delivery is expected in the first quarter of 1964, and the company has contracted to drill for The California Company in. Several sections of the Louisiana Offshore areas. The new rig will be the conventional three-legged design of LeTourneau, and is to be fabricated in the Vicksburg, Mississippi yards, where the company is completing a similar rig, for Dixilyn Corporation. This rig is due to be delivered to the company in New Orleans about September 15.
