1967 Press Photo Women assemble electrical wiring for the Apollo spacecraft

Every photo in our collection is an original vintage print from a newspaper or news service archive, not a digital image. Please see our FAQ for more information.

Description
This is not a sewing bee, but the "doughnut" where skilled women assemble the electrical wiring for the Apollo spacecraft. Nearly 30 miles of wire goes into each capsule. A single electrical panel can take two women 1,400 hours to connect. Many of North American Aviation's women started work as electrical assemblers on winged aircraft 15 years ago.

Photo is dated 1967.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
