1990 Press Photo Ex-policeman Raymond Mauterer Sr. outside Metairie's Secor Bank

Raymond Mauterer Sr., a retired New Orleans policeman, thwarted a bank robbery at Metairie's Secor Bank Monday morning. Mauterer chased the 22 year old suspect across Veterans Blvd. and caught him on the neutral ground. He told the suspect he had a gun, which he didn't, and restained him till Jefferson Parish authorities arrived. He was int he bank with his grand-daughter to buy travelers checks.
