Description
One of the most beautiful neutral grounds in New Orleans is that of Canal Boulevard. The picture above was taken near City park avenue in one of the two shopping centers in Lakeview. The other is on Harrison avenue, off Canal boulevard. Extensively cultivated by the parkway commission, the Canal boulevard neutral ground boasts a wide variety of trees, plants and shrubs. Several blocks of it constitute New Orleans' only sunken gardens.

Photo is dated 1950.

Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches.
