At the Mardi Gras Ball in the Sheraton-Park Hotel, Washington, D. C. sponsored by the Louisiana State Society where over 2000 persons attended including The Postmaster General, the Secretary of Agriculture, Sargent Shriver, Senators, Congressmen and Social Leaders. People flew in from all over Louisiana for the event and Louisiana Governor John McKeithen. The chairman of the Ball was Congressman Joseph Wagner.
