Dedicating a historical marker at the site of the old La Freniere Plantation in Harahan Sunday are (from left) Harnett T. Kane, chairman of the historical marker program, Louisiana Tourist Commission; Mrs. Bertle Chauvin Delery Freret and Howard C. Voorhies, director of the Jefferson Parish Land on which the plantation formerly stood was part of the concession in 1720 by Governor Bienville to the father of Nicholas Chauvin La Freniere, attorney general of Louisiana, 1763-1769. Mrs. Freret is one of his oldest living descendants.
