Description
All students, especially teenagers, have been urged by school officials from three parishes to take the Sabin oral polio vaccine on Sunday if they have not already taken it. A clean-up "feeding" of the first type of the vaccine will be held at 125 immunization clinics throughout Orleans, Jefferson and St. Bernard parishes on Sunday between noon and 6:00 p.m. for those who missed taking the vaccine last week. The officials said the vaccine "should be taken without fail." Left to right, seated: Lemuel W. Higgins, superintendent of Jefferson parish public schools, and Joseph J. Ehret, visiting teacher for Jefferson parish public schools and school coordinator for the KO Polio program in Jefferson parish, and James E. Dean, Jr., assistant superintendent for administration of the New Orleans public schools.
