A $30 million sewage treatment plant at the eastern end of Florida Avenue was dedicated Wednesday by a host of city, state and federal officials. The treatment plant, under construction since 1973, was mandated by federal law and will provide secondary treatment of all raw sewage from the East Bank of New Orleans before the waste is dumped into the Mississippi River.
